Our holiday show this year includes a reading of The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsberg. Since the chorus is mostly background to the reading, it can be a bit of a snooze-fest, but there is a lovely schmaltzy part at the end that goes like this:

Believe in what your heart is saying
Hear the melody that’s playing
There’s no time to waste
There’s so much to celebrate
Believe in what you feel inside
And give your dreams the wings to fly

You have everything you need
If you just believe

-Glen Ballard, Alan Silvestri

Damien Fate’s new FatePlay line conjures up all my favorite fantasy novel characters. The last time I blogged a Fatewear fantasy design it was for a Fire Mage. Upon seeing the Wende dress, however, I knew that it had to be the determined and studious young queen Bitterblue of the brilliant Changeling books by Kristin Cashore for today. To be truly faithful, Bitterblue’s hair is actually black, but there is enough darkness in her life so I chose Thora Charron’s sunny tones for her today.

Tiffy Vella’s Nouveau Leaves set complete’s Bitterblue’s simple but royal look.

If you believe the history books (or television portrayals) of Henry the VIII’s fifth wife, she gets something of a bad rap, characterized as at best an ignorant but sexually adventurous girl and and worst a conniving, adulterous and treasonous criminal. This latter description was clearly her husband’s conclusion, since he had her beheaded on February 13th, 1542. If you look at her pictures she has a bit of a long nose and underbite, but she must have had her charms to get Henry on the hook.

She probably wore all of her queen’s finery rather happily, such as this informal but beautifully detailed gown from Bilo. Another perk for Henry’s queens had to be the jewelry. This gorgeous cross from Maxi Gossamer for this month’s Fameshed fit the bill, and the Solaria ring from Tiffy Vella  is as heavy and luxurious an adornment as any lady could wish for.
