Maggie and Glenn

This week I had fun with the characters of Maggie and Glenn from the Walking Dead. I was especially happy to see the new Rene hairstyle at Fameshed as it reminded me right away of Maggie Greene.

Lest you forget, it’s a bad idea to mess around with a girl who has a machete and knows how to use it.

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

And I don’t mean Christmas. Autumn is my undisputed favorite season, coming as it does after my least favorite season, summer. The color in autumn is simply unbeatable by any other season, and the temperatures are stable without being overly hot or cold. It also usually coincides with the beginning of the school year, which makes me think of setting goals and making new beginnings.

I am so thrilled with the botanical autumn offerings this year. Some of my favorites include Lucian’s Designs, Fiddler’s Green and TeddyJr, along with the prolific and always talented Alex Bader. I am also enjoying the lovely mesh designs from We’re Closed.

I only wish for endless perfect days like this one!

Curio Thistle’s mesh horses are so gorgeous and I feel like they are very underused by me. Dragonfyre Designs uses these horses for saddled riding poses and they were perfect for our ride today.

Away From It All

Every summer my family goes up to a lake in the high Uintahs for one week away from any kind of media or technology. It’s a week where we do a lot of swimming, hiking, and sitting around talking to each other. We play Yahtzee and make kites and cook over the fire. We stay in one-room cabins that sometimes have chipmunk visitors, unlike this gorgeous summer cabin from Apple Fall. My one geeky brother-in-law who struggles the most with the no technology thing downloads geo-caching maps into his phone so he can take all the kids treasure hunting. It’s the best week of the year. All of the fun games by Elle Kirshner of Second Spaces at the Arcade got me thinking about the fun times ahead this summer. I particularly liked the chinese checkers set, but all of the games look great and I am sure they will be making further appearances in the future!

Night-time

I love a night-time fire. Toasting marshmallows, telling stories, or just dreaming. One favorite family tradition of mine is when my dad tells ghost stories around the campfire at our yearly family reunion. I promise there really was fire, and not just smoke! Then of course you have to have a boy sticking some sort of object into the fire to have it all be complete. My nephew did the honors this year.

My fire comes from the fabulous Winter Thorn at What Next. My comfy chair and glowing fire can make a girl very drowsy when she hasn’t got a dad scaring her (or making her laugh, as the case may be) with ghost stories! I stay snug and warm in my chunky mesh turtleneck from Eclectic Wingtips and my sturdy boots from L’Emporio.

Pose Fair 2012: Couples

A while I go I did Luna Jubilee’s Love Challenge and talked about my friend Stewart. It would appear I embarrassed him rather badly. But you know, embarrassed in that slightly embarrassed-but-sort-of-sheepish-pleasure sort of way. He has gone through a bit of a transformation, probably because when you have a mad girl running about snapping pictures of you when you aren’t aware of it, and posting them online for the world to see, it behooves him to be a bit more prepared.
There are some adorable couples poses available at the Pose Fair and I have seen so many great ones in the blog feeds. The two I chose today are both piggy-back poses. One thing I love about SL is being the kind of wispy little thing that men can throw over their shoulders and haul around with ease. Alas, the last time that was possible I think I was eight.
This first one is from Ploom. I like how the pose works perfectly with no body parts sticking through any others.

This next fun pose is from Everglow and it just oozes with cuteness. Stewart was a bit worried that his back would break but fortunately he lived and his back remains unbroken.

This next pose isn’t from Pose Fair, but it did go right along with the carry-Eliza-around theme. This one is from Magnifique, who is at the Pose Fair, but this one might not be there. And don’t let that smile fool you, Stewart was still grousing about his back! I suspect he wanted to dump me unceremoniously into Izzie Button’s perfectly rendered pond.

Fashion For Life 2012: Epilogue

I don’t know about you, but it seemed like FFL was here and gone in the blink of an eye this year. In the end we did meet Harper’s challenge goal and she made her triumphant way through the sims as promised, in pig form. So they do fly, after all, it seems. You can see a couple of pictures of Harper happily on her way here and see how much was raised during the event.

So it’s goodbye to FFL for this year…see you in 2013!

Happy Valentine’s Day

I came home from work to find a bunch of pink, white and red hearts and lips on my door today. I can only hope the neighbors will be patient with us:

We made these the year we got engaged. I don’t know how my husband found them, or how he knew I needed something like this today. I have had 12 amazing years with the only guy in the world who is perfect for me in every way, and I want about a million more.
