Transformation Challenge

I first met Danny about six months ago, doing what he does best, which is playing music that people love to listen to. (And by people I mean me. Probably some other folks, too.)  There is a story behind every song Danny shares, and usually an over-arching set of stories for any given set that he creates. Sometimes he talks a little about the artists or the songwriters—and during those times it is sometimes possible to catch in his voice the tremolo of the truly musically impassioned.  If you haven’t had the pleasure of hearing him play, do yourself a favor and listen to one of his sets.  You can catch him Tuesday nights at 7pm SLT at Someplace Else or at the Attic on Thursdays at 6pm SLT.

Danny’s pixel transformations have been many. They have also sometimes been hilarious. First there was his “normal” look:

Danny 1

…then there was his Elvis look:

Danny 2

…and my personal favorite, the Santa’s Little Helper look:

Danny 3

Anyway, in a very presumptuous move, I sent him a recent hairstyle and told him that 2009 needed to rest in peace. What has followed has been Danny’s external  transformation. Turns out he is quite skilled at putting himself together as he did for this shoot, choosing a classy blazer from Scars and comfortable jeans from Shai. Internally, why, Danny needs no transformation at all. I am lucky to call him my friend.

    That Elvis look is so epic though! LOL Thank you so much for introducing us to Danny.

Happy 2014

One of Truth Hawk’s new releases this week, the beautiful Ainsley style, is probably going to be one of my all-time favorites. I also have to mention the loveliness that is Izzie Button’s new Lila skin.

May 2014 be wonderful for you and all your loved ones.

Diesel Works just released a bunch of cute holiday poses, one of which is this great Merry Christmas pose that is a group gift.

I found these fun ugly holiday sweaters by Phunk on the Marketplace and thought they were the perfect combination for the cheesiness that is holiday photos.

Décor is courtesy of mostly Trompe L’Oeil, with a few other things thrown in. Cory Edo has most recently released this mesh cottage at Collabor88 and the lit holiday tree can be found at Fameshed.

I love coming back from vacation to find that there are so many new releases flying around! Mallory Cowen has released the new Alva skin and I am loving the natural look of it—Mallory tends to make skins that are a bit pouty and puffy in the lips but the two latest, Mini and Alva have a little more natural lip and the skin is a bit more matte in texture. I think it’s beautiful.

This week was a whirlwind of great new releases! Even though we are nowhere near October 31st, this Dia de los Muertos top from Acid & Mala was the perfect shirt to pull on for a relaxed Sunday. And it pairs so well with these great Fifty Linden Friday jeans from Whippet & Buck.

Also making big waves all over the grid are the new Flip-flops from Onyx Leshelle at Maitreya. Flip flops that really work in SL are hard to find, and these are of the same excellent quality of Onyx’s previous designs. I had a moment of sticker shock, but then most of us probably know that you get what you pay for in SL, and there is simply no downside to these. I might not wear anything else all summer.

Also out from Beauty Code are these gorgeous earrings in silver and gold. The sparkle on these earrings is subtle and natural and won’t distract the person you are talking to with flashing bling!!! And finally, it’s always a great day when Ikon Innovia has a new release, and he continues to delight with his dreamy new Carribean Blue.

    Thanks for the FASHISM mention, Eliza! You look lovely.

    So much beauty in such an everyday style!

Settling Down

It’s been a crazy semester but finally things are starting to slow down. And that is a good thing. Today I am wearing a couple of new offerings, one a group gift from Le Poppycock that embodies my festive mood and a new top from District.

There is so much to choose from at the Accessories Fair and it is responsible for my continual angst about not being able to buy everything in sight! The new Adele set from Indyra Seigo instantly caught my eye with its earthy colors and intricate details—if it looks familiar it’s because Gypsy was wearing it yesterday!

Accessories Fair 2011 x2

#1: It’s always nice when you have a friend that will play dress up with you, and two avs can wear twice the accessories! I haven’t spent as much time in SL as usual (more on that later this week), so I have only done a couple of perfunctory run-throughs of the Accessories Fair, but what I have seen I adore!

#2: It’s also nice when said friend has different taste in accessories and therefore brings variety to the table! Where would I be without you, girl?

The Accessories Fair runs through June 26th, so get there while there is still time!

Mallory Cowen recently released a new skin called Mini, and it is quite a bit different from her other skins, but no less lovely. This one has a very natural look that I love.

Poetic Nonsense

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress when she walks treads on the ground.
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.
-William Shakespeare, Sonnet 130

This sonnet was always very dear to me because I imagine the lady Shakespeare describes as being a lot like many average women out there—not the most beautiful or amazing looking woman in the world (or even in the neighborhood!). However, his love for her makes her beautiful to him regardless of how the outward body appears. Nonsense? Perhaps, but comforting nonsense, in any case. And there are those for whom it also happens to be true, the lucky ducks!

Lano Ling released the second generation of his classic eyes recently and they are beauties! One thing I love about Lano’s style is the color blending. Look closely and check out the variegated colors within the eye. Another new release is my adorable smocked top from Acid & Maia—so perfect for these lengthening days in the northern hemisphere!

You Can’t Handle the Truth

Does anyone on the grid have as many people waiting to pounce on new releases as Truth Hawks? If there were recordings made of all the squeals over his hair designs, I am sure it would make a very entertaining (and long) movie. This week is no exception, with two new releases, Kalia and Leilani. Today I am wearing Kalia and the most important thing to share is that I did zero prim adjusting once I put it on. Zero. I think I’m in serious love.  When the notice came out for the new Patricia dress from Kunglers, I teleported straight to the store, and about two hundred other girls had the same idea!  As usual, this dress is beautifully constructed with gorgeous textures and the prim skirt falls perfectly and most of the time you can’t even tell you are wearing a prim skirt. So much fabulousness, I just can’t handle it!
