52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Mulberry

My husband grew up in the Canary Islands. On his island, there is still a tradition of raising and harvesting silkworms, and weaving the silk. When my husband was a small boy, he would raise silkworms to help his mother earn some extra money. And the favorite food of silkworms is the leaves of the mulberry tree. My husband has told me the stories several times of how the silkworm’s voracious appetite kept him running all day cutting and collecting mulberry branches. Even now he just can’t believe how much they eat.

So the next time you pull on a silk garment, take a moment to respect the worms. It’s an arduous process. You can read more about it here.

I was able to find one single mulberry tree with silkworms on it in SL, and here it is!

    Happy Sunday Pretty Lady!
Can I just say, how great it is to have an educator in rl that blogs with us fashionistas?
But, at the same time, it also makes me dot my I’s and cross my T’s. =)
    Beautiful post. xoxo

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Olive

The Olive Tree

If Life is less than one day’s passing sigh
within eternity, and if the year
too soon revolved, may never reappear,
if, helpless, all things here on earth soon die,
what do you dream about, caged soul, and why
this trouble take when darkness hovers near ?
Although your dreams sing on to regions clear,
you seem a soul in pain whose wings can’t fly.
Seek there the Good above, beyond the sky,
there the rest which to each man lends cheer,
there is Love, there pleasure, thither steer,
there, my soul, is heaven found, on high.
There you shall realize that rare rapport
with Beauty which in this world I adore …
