52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Deep Pink

I actually like the darker pinks. Of course when I saw the new Grace skin from Hush I knew that’s what I wanted to wear for this color. And thanks to JaneDark Miles and Maxi Gossamer for having such perfect color-complimentary accessories!

So down to business. Congrats to Caroline Endersleigh for winning the Miel Timber Boots!

Next week I am going to give away one Grace skin tone from Hush when it comes out later this month. I just love it that much!!!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

I love the simplicity of this photo Eliza. Just the make up, the jewellery and the hint of your top make it subtle but sexy and the colour really works!!! That skin is gorgeous too, I may have to demo it hehe!

  2. ayakofirecaster

So simple yet so beautiful! I love it!

Big Dogs

My first dog was a small, part Maltese mix named Katie. She was a decent dog, as far as family dogs go, but she was a yapper, and an uncontrollable one at that. She was not an attack dog, but she did love to bark. I have very fond memories of my Katie, but I did learn that a small, yapping dog was not the way I wanted to go in the future. I have always been a big dog kind of girl—the hounds, the working dogs—dogs with a purpose, I call them. Even though my own beautiful Luna does not pull carts or herd sheep like she was bred to do, she does keep watch on the house and deter anyone from approaching me on the street by looking big and scary.

Sadly, no one has made a Bernese Mountain Dog in SL yet—a huge omission if I do say so myself. However, that does not meant that the big dogs get no love:

Carrie Tatsu has created some of the most realistic-looking animals I have seen in SL. Animals are notoriously hard to create in SL—something about all those folding joints, I guess. But this big boy (named Con after one of my favorite vampire novel characters) looks realer than I do, right down to that very curious-canine expression in his eyes. Usually Great Danes aren’t quite so big, but my avatar is only 5’8” in SL, which is apparently midget-sized. But in any case, curling up with a big dog is way more satisfying than with a little one, so if you have your own big goof of a dog, show them some love today.

A dog like Con requires some no nonsense shoes (mostly for chasing) and I am wearing the comfy mesh Uggs from Guu Nishi at Hoc Industries today. Also, Maxi Gossamer has just released a new necklace called Babette, and while there is a very high likelihood that it will get caught on Con’s ears (or in his mouth), I couldn’t resist putting it on today.

**Con does all sorts of doggy things in addition to looking adorable, which you can read about here.

While a lot of the items available at the Festival of Sin are decidedly not my style, there are some gems to be found. I just adore the new Essences skin from Inka Mexicola, with it’s barely-there smattering of freckles and delicate bone structure visible  beneath the skin of the face and chest. I am wearing it as is here, but there is a variety of eyeshadows and lipsticks available as well. My fun, flirty, dress today is from Antonin1 at Carisma Creations. The subtle ruching on the body and the poofed skirt are the perfect accessory!

Great look! That is a very nice skin and I love how you’ve got the earring echoing the red shimmer of the dress.

Over the past three days half the ceiling in my classroom fell in due to a leak in the roof. The roof is one of those flat seventies inventions that make it completely impossible to find where the leak is coming from, so I’ve been teaching this week with random streams of water pouring in on top of students, books and equipment. Just so you know, trash and recycling bins make very good water catchers and the combination of water and LCD projector makes for some very interesting effects! So today I am ready for whatever the weather may bring, in my adorable Wellingtons from Gospel Voom and umbrella from The Sea Hole Collabor88 event. Here’s hoping for a drier week next week!

Today I went for a stroll in this cute, comfy set from Poise. I really like the set up of the Rejectz sim. This is an adult role-play sim though, so if you visit make sure you are aware of and follow the sim rules.

I am also trying out a new skin from Inaya. I love the sassy face and straight-across eyebrows. While Naalyeh Raleigh makes some very charming faces (and her darker skins are really lovely), they lose a bit of smoothness with atmospheric settings or shadows turned on. I took the photo below with only basic lighting. I am enjoying getting to know her work and look forward to what she comes up with next.

I think most skins are ruined by atmospheric shaders, so sometimes I take two shots and overlay them, one without (background) one with on top (clear out the skin parts)

Brilliant, Lau! See, over a year and I am still clueless about some things!

The leaves have finally fallen off the trees and New England has taken on its characteristic gray. It has definitely had an impact on my mood lately. Fortunately there is always SL fashion to help me reflect my mood! My outfit today comes from Debbie Dotterkelch at Pixxis, and it’s on sale at the Designer Circle this week. The whole outfit is comfy and practical, and I especially love the boots! My skin is the lovely Piper from Beauty Code, also on sale at the Designer Circle!

I wandered around Death Row Designs and found this dead, drying Christmas tree just outside the store entrance. A remembrance of festive times, but a little bit sad. It makes me want to go turn on the lights on my fake green Christmas tree that will never die, listen to cheerful carols and wrap presents!

My mother used to need to get away at times for a few days and just be by herself. (Well, if you had eight kids you would too!) Thank goodness I have a dad who understood completely and gave her the time she needed. I have nothing like her excuse, but I have inherited the desire to go away sometimes where there is no one around but me so that I can deal with my own thoughts. Usually this urge occurs in the fall and heading towards winter. Although with this winter storm that hit the East Coast this weekend, it seems like we have skipped autumn and jumped straight to winter. Maybe it is a hibernation instinct. And I never actually get to go away and be by myself, but I can imagine, right?

Well today I was wandering around looking for empty autumny places and found the perfect retreat at Totem Flow’s Autumn Hideaway. Totem has combined some gorgeous landscaping with charming decorative detail. I wanted to move in immediately—or at least curl up and stay awhile!

The adorable cottage is from the talented Winter Thorn and I have to confess I went out and bought it immediately. I may have to create my own little hidey-hole somewhere. For the past few days I have been wearing the beautiful new Tekla skin from LAQ and it is becoming one of my favorites. My vibrantly colored sweater is a recent mesh release from Jada Humby.

Afternoon Stroll

I was so excited to receive one of Agnes Finney’s latest designs. This gown, aptly named Darling (isn’t it just though?) reminds me of being young and carefree, wearing white dresses and running around with flowers…before age and real life, responsibilities and grey hairs set in. So completely beautiful with it’s embroidered skirt detail and lace sleeves. There are some long skirt options as well with this dress so it’s really like getting three dresses in one. Always a good thing.

This hair, I must say, is most definitely not grey, and is one of Alice Demonia’s new mesh designs. It cascades fantastically down the back of my dress and stays outside my body, where it belongs. And it’s only 44L at the 4.44.444 event.

Sunday Morning Brunch

I received this lovely top from Vespah Wasp the other day and it was the perfect garment for the transition from summer to fall. Light and airy enough for warm weather but still protective enough for cool evening breezes. My hair is a recent release from Queue Marlowe, and finishing it all off are the divine Boho Boots from Nevery Lorakeet.
