The new hair from Magika was my blog inspiration today. Short styles can be some of the most fun and exciting and this one is both. The new Bodycon dress from Ison at Collabor88 is a perfect match. There was one small difficulty with the dress alpha that cut off the leg just under the hemline, you’ll notice that I smudged my leg to fill in the empty bit.

My charming living room furniture is from the great Barnesworth Anubis, also at Collabor88. Every single thing Barnes puts out screams quality and this set is no different.

Going Coastal

I grew up in a landlocked state and have always had a terrible fear of deep water. So it had to be the intervention of fate that I ended up living in what is lovingly termed “The Ocean State”. I am still afraid of deep water, will never scuba dive or even swim out very far into the ocean, but I really love living near the northern sea. The landscape, the colors, the sounds, the smells, the water that never gets warm, it is all enchanting. This lovely sim captures a bit of that, even though this looks more like a Mid-Atlantic shore. If you are in the mood for a sea-side visit, give this place a try.

The Costume Ball

I do like Halloween, and as a teacher I go in for all the cutsie pumpkin, ghost and witch paraphernalia. But when I am in non-teacher mode I like the more creepy, dark stuff. Fortunately the Costume Ball is full of the dark and creepy. My dress is the Black Widow dress from Happy Undead, and my pale skin is from Pink Fuel. Both can be found at the Costume Ball through November 1st.

Ikon Innovia’s Witch Eyes reflect the cool bonfire at the Calais Galadhon Journey to the Lost City sim, and they are the embodiment of creepy.

And now for a Halloween treat from Endra Graves. Anyone who would like a copy of this great spider web jewelry set can IM “Trick or Treat” to Endra Graves and she will send you a copy!

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Bright Turquoise

First of all, congrats to Aeva Nikolaidis for winning the Las Islas shells from last week! Watch for them in-world, dear!

I had a lovely day with my friend Caroline at Izzie’s main store. It was a perfectly bright and happy day. And there was so much to choose from in this color it was hard to make a decision as to what to wear, and what to give away! But at least we had fun, and we got to use a great pose from Label Motion at the POSE FAIR!

And for my giveaway this week, I will give away Maxi Gossamer’s gorgeous Silver Drop set to two lucky people. Happy Sunday, everyone!

Big Hair

Curly hair fascinates me. I had a roommate with super-curly hair once and I could spend hours sitting there pulling the strands of her curls straight, letting them go and watching them spring back into the curly shape. Needless to say she was a very patient and forbearing friend! My own hair in RL is somewhere between straight and curly, but with no uniformity, so instead of nice volume I get either a limp mess or a rats’ nest. Just another reason to be grateful for SL hair! And for this style in particular, from Sebastien Aries at Shag.

Also new to love today is the brand new Kim set from Endra Graves at Artistry by E. My sexy henna art-tattoos are courtesy of Guenever DeCuir at Collisions.

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Iron

First things first: Thanks to everyone who commented last week–the lucky giveaway winners are (drum roll…..):

  1. Ygrey Auer
  2. Lashae Karsin
  3. Nicandra Laval

Congratulations ladies! Watch for your gift in-world! And for everyone else, keep on reading because I had so much fun with this I have decided to make it a weekly color-challenge event!

Now, however, we move on to Iron. There were so many ideas that came to mind–Iron Man, ironing, wrought iron, Iron Maiden (yikes!)…why don’t we just stop there! What stuck in my head most though was a song I sang in college, and it is pretty appropriate for the kind of weather we are having lately in my neck of the woods:

In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.

-Christina Rosetti, Gustav Holst

So what did I do? I grabbed my friend Caroline and we took to the snow, I in my ultra-chic jacket from Sascha Frangili and Caroline in a beautiful jewelry set from Endra Graves and one of this week’s color challenge offerings from Rezzie Luckstone:

So now for the giveaway…it will be the same as last week, you’ll have until Friday, January 27th at 11pm SLT to make a comment on this post. Winners will receive the Maggie Set from Artistry by E, beautifully modeled by Caroline. This week I will randomly draw two names from the list of comments. Now, I am not going to do jewelry every time, there will be other items in the future as well (guys, I am keeping you in mind!), but the talented Endra Graves has generously agreed to be my giver this week.

And even though we are past the Christmas season, if you are feeling like reliving the season a bit, here are two versions of “In The Bleak Midwinter”, the first by the great Annie Lennox and the second more traditional version from the Gloucester Cathedral Choir:
