Night in Crimson Fields

If you’ve seen the Disney film Fantasia segment of Modest Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain then you’ve seen one of the great moments in film history. You were probably also scared out of your mind as well as completely fascinated if you saw it as a child.

The Draziira skin from The Plastik got me started for this fantastical look, but it wasn’t until I found the amazing mesh wings from Unzipped that I recalled the very scary demons in Fantasia. Add to them the amazing Lokyli horns from Europa and you have a being that I would not want to meet on a dark night on any mountain.

The Crimson Fields build is one of my favorites at the field, full of beautiful red flowers, but dark in a way that makes one imagine that something terrible happened there at some point. Make sure you schedule a visit there during the Faire! And if you have the time, check out the eight minute segment from Fantasia. Despite being made in 1940, it holds up even today, and contains not a single computer generated image.

Enjoy.

WOW… Once again the fantasy side of Eliza comes out and once again, it’s gorgeous. I loved that scene when I was little but then I did always seem to have a penchant for the evil disney characters at times – favourite of all time has to be Maleficent of Sleeping Beauty fame…
