My parents enrolled me in dance classes when I was nine or so. I still have the pictures, and sadly I am always the one who had her costume on wrong, or who was doing something else entirely than the rest of the class. Soon after those pictures were taken, my parents decided that perhaps dancing didn’t quite suit. Or maybe the lessons were just too expensive to waste on an un-coordinated clod like me. They steered me toward piano and that was a much better fit for the nine-year-old me.
I wish I could say that age and maturity made me a better dancer, but nope, I still plod around like a draft horse. Some people are just too earth-bound for the flowing, flying artistry that is dance. So I am grateful for SL and this week particularly for Zaara Kohime and Truth Hawks, who allow me to sway and flow and not look like a Clydesdale doing it.
